To The Women Who Yearn To Be Mothers…
To the women who yearn to be mothers…
I am in my 40’s.
And although more women are having children later in their lives, society still seems to look down their pointy noses if you are childless at this point.
Whether by choice or not.
Either you get the looks of pity: “Oh, there must be something wrong.”😲
Or the looks of disgust: “How dare she not birth a kid yet?” 🤨
To them, I say fuck them. And their patriarchal thoughts & faux concerns about my body.
But to you,
You…who are still waiting…
I see you.
Girl, I am you.
It’s okay to be sad and cry, especially as Mother’s Day approaches.
Because sometimes, just sometimes being an auntie, God-mother or pet mom (hi Kingsley!) does not quite fill your cup.
(Let’s be clear, 97% of the time it does though)
The desire and yearning are still there.
To one day be called “mommy” and to have your own mini version of yourself.
And so, we continue to hope❤️
